Role Overview

Zoe Feldman Design is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to act as the Project Manager for our New York design team. This role is ideal for a highly organized, technically proficient professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-end residential environment and excels at managing complex renovation projects from concept through installation.

The Project Manager serves as the logistical and construction lead, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at the highest level of quality while providing exceptional client service.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
  • 7+  years of experience in interior design, architecture, or construction project management, preferably within high-end residential projects
  • Proven experience managing complex, large-scale residential renovations from pre-construction through installation
  • Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD (required); Studio Designer experience strongly preferred
  • Studio Designer experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced budgeting, scheduling, and forecasting skills
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, RFIs, bids, and change management
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Polished, confident client-facing presence
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Collaborative leader with a proactive, solutions-driven approach
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and installations or to our HQ in Washington, DC
  • Experience working in NYC preferred 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing stairs and standing or moving for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry packages or materials up to 30 lbs as needed
  • Ability to stand or move continuously for extended periods during site visits and installations
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, vendors, and team members on site

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Serve as the primary project and construction lead for complex, high-end residential projects from kickoff through final installation
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, including full-scale gut renovations
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget
  • Anticipate risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies
  • Act as a senior escalation point for project-related challenges

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and support project teams, including Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Designers
  • Mentor Project Managers and Project Coordinators, providing guidance, feedback, and best practices
  • Support Directors of Project Operations with training and performance development initiatives
  • Promote consistency and excellence in project execution across teams

Budgeting, Scheduling & Documentation

  • Develop, manage, and refine detailed project schedules, budgets, and work plans
  • Review and approve PM-developed timelines, scopes, and budgets as needed
  • Oversee construction documentation, RFIs, bids, change orders, and consultant coordination
  • Ensure adherence to design intent, scope, timelines, and quality standards

Client, Consultant & Contractor Relations

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, and consultants
  • Lead client meetings related to construction progress, logistics, and scheduling
  • Conduct frequent site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication to ensure a positive client experience

Procurement, Installation & Closeout

  • Coordinate closely with Procurement throughout ordering, fabrication, delivery, and installation
  • Oversee on-site installation of construction elements, finishes, lighting, plumbing, and equipment
  • Ensure projects are properly closed out, including punch lists, documentation, and final approval

Errands & On-the-Ground Support

  • Access to a car is a plus, having an active driver's license is a requirement
